What's new this month at Greenaway Residential

What a month it has been.  Can it really be possible that we can officially be in a recession but with rising house prices?  Well it genuinely seems to be the case for the first time in history.  With record low interest rates, a stamp duty holiday and would be buyers and sellers being unable to get away, the property market is experiencing a 'mini boom'.  Recent reports have indicated that house prices during August 2020 rose a whopping 4%.

Unless there is another lock down over the coming months we predict the housing market will continue to be very active, at least until mid November.  However the Christmas slow down may come early this year as Brexit raises its head one last time.

If you are thinking of selling, letting or buying a property now could be an ideal time to make hay whilst the sun is shining and we would love to chat to you.

Too Early To Talk About Christmas?

For the past eight Christmas's, Greenaway Residential have been providing financially challenged families with all the ingredients they will need to cook a two course Christmas dinner.
Three years ago we introduced the wishing tree, so children from these families could come to our offices and make a wish for a present they would like to receive from Santa.
Last Christmas we delivered to 344 families and made over 700 wishes come true.  With everything that has happened this year, we predict to we will deliver to over 500 families and make a thousand wishes come true.

Our efforts went to such a level that in March this year The Greenaway Foundation became a registered charity.  So we need help and lots of it.  From companies that would sponsor a food items like brussell sprouts or gravy, or people that would like to sponsor a present or make a donation, or volunteers to help collate the deliveries and finally delivery drivers to help out on the morning of Christmas Eve.
If you would like to help this year with our efforts please email darren@greenawayresidential.com

Income Protection For New Tenants

As a new tenant, have you considered how you would pay the rent or household bills in your new property if you are ill or suffered a long term injury?

Each year one million people in the UK find themselves unable to work due to serious illness or injury (ABI 2017).

Income Protection insurance is designed to give you some cover if you can not earn an income for those reasons.

Recent research from income protection specialist Drewberry found that 26 per cent of people do not have Income Protection because they believe their workplace sick pay would be sufficient to look after them, yet in reality only 14 per cent would receive sick pay for more than six months while 24 per cent would receive no sick pay at all.

If something happened to you, would you be able to survive on savings, or on your sick pay from your workplace ?  Do you even know how long you receive full sick pay from your workplace ?

If not, you will need some other way to keep paying your rent and household bills and you may want to consider Income Protection insurance.
