Greenaway Residential Newsletter - February

After so much press about Brexit, when it finally happened the event went fairly unnoticed.  We all seemed more interested in Prince Harry moving to Canada than the UK leaving Europe.

But the good news is that the property market has sprung into life with every statistic lighting up green.  Although it may take a few months for property prices to start recovering the grass shoots are definitely showing. Interest rates are set to remain low throughout the year and there have been murmurings of a possible cut in interest rates.  In the up coming budget which is due in a few weeks there has been rumours of a money-raising 'Mansion Tax', it is understood some of the proceeds would be used to reduce stamp duty for everyday buyers.

The outlook for the UK property market in 2020 is very positive with very few reasons on the horizon to dampen spirits.

The Greenaway Foundation

Many people are aware of the Christmas Dinner & Wishing Tree Appeals that we do every year on Christmas Eve, but not everyone is aware what we do throughout the year.  The Greenaway Foundation helps financially challenged families with ad hoc help to improve the welfare of children with the aim of easing anxiety and helping school attendance.

Most of the help is given through schools to fund things like school uniforms, PE kits and shoes etc. Or buying food for families or helping with transport.  The biggest funding so far was to pay for a child's residential week long trip after their father passed away.

This summer we launch 'Prom Pop Ups' to help families struggling with the cost of the now very popular school proms.  The plan is where a senior school is having a prom in Crawley, East Grinstead or Horley, the foundation will create a space near it where students can come and get hair, nails and make up done.  We are looking for qualified or talented people to donate some time to help with this.  We are also looking for volunteers with a nice or unusual car or vehicle to volunteer as chauffeurs.

Over 10% of Greenaway Residential Estate Agents profits are donated to the charity and now we are a fully registered charity we will be organising fund raising events in the near future.
